About two cars leave Denver at the same time and travel in opposite directions

Two cars leave Denver at the same time and travel in opposite directions.?
Two cars leave Denver at the same time and travel in opposite directions. One car travels 15 mph faster than the other car. The cars are 460 miles apart in 4 hours. How fast is each car traveling? please explain how to do this, dont just give me the answer!

Answer 1 :
get a math tutor
Answer 2 :
T R D 4 x 460 4 x+15 460 8x+60=920 8x=860 x=107.5 x+15=122.5 t=time r=rate d= distance I think its an equals problem im not sure tho im 80% sure thats how u do it
Answer 3 :
The first car goes at speed X. The second car goes at speed X + 15. At 4 hour, the are 460 miles apart. So the first car goes 4 * (x) miles the second car goes 4 *(x + 15) miles add these together to get total miles (460 miles) So 4*(x) +4*(x+15) = 460 miles. Multiply that out. ***** 4*(x + 15) becomes 4x + (4 * 15) ***** 4*(x) becomes 4x 4x + 4x + (4 * 15) = 460 miles 4x + 4x + (60) = 460 miles. Subtact 60 from both sides. 4x + 4x = 400 miles combine 4x + 4x into 8x. So 8x = 400 miles. Divide both side by 8. X = 50 mile per hour. (first car) X + 15 = 65 mile per hour (second car) === Checks: first car: 50 MPH * 4 hours = 200 miles second car: 65 MPH * 4 hours = 260 miles. 200 miles + 260 miles = 460 miles. Done - good luck Hmmmm. I waited 1 hour and no response. Maybe I should just delete this answer...
Answer 4 :
You need to know the formula: distance = rate * time You are looking for the rate of the two cars. one car is going at x mph, and the other is going 15mph faster than the first, so x+15 mph. In 4 hours, the distance between the two cars is 460 miles. Now plug in what we know: distance = rate * time 460 miles = (rate of car 1 + rate of car 2) * 4 hours 460 miles = (x mph + (x+15) mph) * 4 hours 460 miles = (2x + 15) mph * 4 hours 460 miles = (2x + 15) miles/hour * 4 hours 460 miles = 4*(2x+15) miles*hour/hour 460 miles = 8x + 60 miles You can add/subtract/multiply/divide by the same amount to both sides of an equals equation, and maintain the equality. You want to get the variable you are solving for, in this case x, all by itself on one side of the equation, and only multiplied by 1. 460 miles = 8x + 60 miles 460 = 8x + 60 460 - 60 = 8x + 60 - 60 400 = 8x 400/8 = 8x/8 50 = x So, car one at x mph is going 50 mph, and car two at 15mph faster than car one is going 65 mph. You can check this by figuring out the distance that each car will have gone over the 4 hours at their speed, and then adding that distance together to see if it equals the 460 miles apart. distance of car one = rate of car one * time distance of car one = 50 mph * 4 hours distance of car one = 50*4 miles*hour/hour distance of car one = 200 miles distance of car two = rate of car two * time distance of car two = 65 mph * 4 hours distance of car two = 65*4 miles*hour/hour distance of car two = 260 miles Does the distance of car one plus the distance of car two, after 4 hours of travel, equal 460 miles? 460 miles ?= distance of car one + distance of car two 460 miles ?= 200 miles + 260 miles 460 miles = 460 miles Yea! our answers of 50mph and 65mph checks out!

Answer 1 :
some good ones could be private ones that go one way. we go to california every few years and its cheaper to go to las vegas then fresno compared to going straight there. hope this helped.
Answer 2 :
Colorado Mountain Express. It is the only shuttle service for most of the state. They have a desk in the airport, and a website. ¡Buena suerte! (you should come here...probably cheaper, at least on the shuttle service...we are closer to Denver, so, cheaper for the shuttle)
Answer 3 :
You could rent a car at the airport and drive yourself there. They have maps at the rental car counter for free. Check online for prices, like at Expedia.com, Travelocity.com, Orbitz.com, Priceline.com, etc. It's getting to be winter here and has snowed already, so if you aren't used to driving in snowy conditions, you might reconsider a rental car. Have fun!

About what's the best way to travel from Denver to San Francisco

What's the best way to travel from Denver to San Francisco?
Traveling after Christmas holiday. What do you think would be best? Bus? Train? Plane? Other? Creativity is welcome! =)
Other - United States - 6 Answers
People's Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
Answer 1 :
A plane is best; chances are time will be invaluable.
Answer 2 :
I'd personally take a plane although it'll be expensive at that time. If you have the time, then I'd say train. But there is no way I'd be in a car or bus going through the mountains with all those twists and turns and blizzards and ice. I hear horror stories about driving through Donner Pass.
Answer 3 :
You just missed the sale for $60 one-way, you can drive or share the ride with others from craigslist.org
Answer 4 :
teleportation you arrive there instantly!
Answer 5 :
Flying will of course be the fastest Next would taking Amtrak's California Zephyr. http://www.amtrak.com/servlet/ContentServer/AM_Route_C/1237608341980/1237405732511 Taking a bus would be subject the same vagaries of weather that driving would Driven all three options in winter 1) I-70 W>I-15 N >I-80 W 2) I-25 N>I-80 W 3) I-70 W >I-15 N >US 50W>I-80-W
Answer 6 :
definitely fly. It depends on your exact dates but a lot of times flying is the cheapest. Check Frontier and Southwest, they have the best prices typically. I've found RT flights for less than $150 lots of times. Bus takes forever, and is usually the same or more than flying, and everytime I've checked train costs its even more than flying.

About what time of year is best to travel to Denver, Colorado

What time of year is best to travel to Denver, Colorado?
I know there is lots of snow in the winter time there can anyone tell me when does it actually start (month) Please?
Denver - 4 Answers
People's Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
Answer 1 :
Snow can happen darn near anytime of the year (thought it is extremely rare in the summer) in Denver. But usually the snowiest months are February and March. Usually the first snowfall will happen late September to early October.
Answer 2 :
Actually Denver gets less snow than Chicago, Detroit, Cleveland and Pittsburgh. Denver is nice into October
Answer 3 :
Starts getting cold around Halloween. Evenings are chilly even now in the dead of July. Last week we were in the 60's and 50's at night, but now 90's in the day. There will be cold nights from October - mid May. Days are nice often, even in winter. As long as the sun is shining, it's nice outside usually. It's not uncommon to have 40 degree temperature variations throughout the day -- especially during fall/spring.
Answer 4 :
When you think of Denver, you more than likely think skiing. Ski season runs from mid-November to mid-April. The city sees a rush of visitors this time of year. However, when spring appears, skiiers swap their skis for mountain bikes. Outdoor summer sports activities are a big draw as well. Since there is so much to see and do year-round in Denver, there is no season that is more busy than another. Anytime is a good time to visit this Colorado gem. Average Weather Colorado weather is famous for its wild fluctuations--during any given season and any given day. Average high and low temperatures for a month can differ by as much as 30 degrees. But such rapid changes also mean that most weather conditions are only temporary--snow melts as rapidly as it appears. And thanks to two constants, a low relative humidity and more than 300 days of sunshine per year (more than Miami Beach or San Diego), the Denver climate is rendered quite pleasant.

About do I need snow chains to travel in Denver metro area

Do I need snow chains to travel in Denver metro area?
I am moving from Denver from El Paso, TX. Obviously, I have little experience with icy / snowy conditions. Is it possible that I will need chains just for driving on the interstates in CO and the Denver area this January? Thanks.
Denver - 8 Answers
People's Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
Answer 1 :
Chains are sometimes needed when driving up into the mountains, but are never used in the city or on the highways in and near the city. If conditions are THAT bad, you should not be out in it. The great majority of people in the Denver area never have the experience of driving with chains. I lived in Colorado Springs for over 25 years and never needed chains.
Answer 2 :
No. But 4 REAL snow tires will make your life here MUCH easier. Real snow tires are marked with a snowflake and a mountain on the sidewall. The originals were Bridgestone Blizzaks, now there are several. Tires labeled "M+S" don't even come close. Much less "all-season". The snowflake and the mountain tires have specific and tough standards. They're the real deal. I, and many other people here, have a set mounted on cheap wheels, so that I can switch over myself. Get 4, not 2. The difference between that setup and "all-season" tires is simply astounding. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tests/testDisplay.jsp?ttid=64
Answer 3 :
You won't need chains in the Denver metro area. It would be a better idea to get a vehicle with 4 wheel drive or All-wheel drive. It will be helpful to be able to experience the beauty of our state year-round. If you can't get new wheels, get snow tires if you are not used to snow driving.
Answer 4 :
Denver roads are dry 85 % of the time. A good set of all season tires on a front wheel drive car will get you through the winter. The roars are clear within a day or two.If you will be driving to the mountains for sking , than a 4 wheel drive with snow tire will be a very good idea. A rear wheel drive vehicle studded tires would be helpful.
Answer 5 :
No, lol you are only required to use chains when driving into the mountains and the roads are bad. The roads in Denver usualy remain dry as we have traffic here no stop, east coast like (just one of the few down sides to the city) which keeps the snow melted. Plus its Colorado, it will snow at 8 am then by noon it will be melted.
Answer 6 :
no, unless you are driving a comercial vehicle. my gandma is from belton, TX, and shes scared to drive on the roads too, but it is completely safe. in TX, the water freezes on the road, creating black ice, however black ice is virtually no-exhistent in CO, because the snow stays frozen. this is called snow pack, which is also safe, its just like driving on white roads, dont be intimidated! and sometimes, you are safer driving 50 MPH than 15 MPH, when you are goin soooooooo slow on snow, it creates more of a hazzard, for you and others good luck with the move, and enjoy DENVER!
Answer 7 :
Never. I moved here from Tampa, Fl and have never used chains. It doesn't snow enough in the metro area for chains, although I've seen people using them. I guess it depends on the type of vehicle you drive. I would recommend an AWD vehicle or a 4x4 truck. Usually the main arteries are perfectly drivable in snowy weather but remember to drive slower than normal.
Answer 8 :
uhhhhh no..... Denver isn't like some kind of country town or wilderness outpost. Its is a buzzing metropolitan city with state of the art amenities and of course snow ploughs to plough the roads at a regular basis.

About how can I travel from Boulder to Denver without a private vehicle

How can I travel from Boulder to Denver without a private vehicle?
I am travelling to Boulder on a conference this week, but I would like to visit Denver. What is the best way to go to Denver without my own car? Would a cab be too expensive? Can I take a bus?
Denver - 4 Answers
People's Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
Answer 1 :
Uh. A bus or train?
Answer 2 :
There are commuter buses that go back and forth between Boulder and Denver regularly. Try www.rtd-denver.com for schedules and fares.
Answer 3 :
Before my sister drove she took the cab or bus when she travelled from Boulder to the Denver airport. It's not too expensive I dont think. She has a car now. It's not a bad drive. Just about 45 minutes and it's pretty much a straight road down. You can see Denver from the top of Flagstaff Point in Boulder anyway. It's not far.
Answer 4 :
There are buses all over Boulder and an intra-city bus that runs from downtown Boulder to downtown Denver. A cab would be outrageous. http://www.rtd-denver.com/

well I'm not sure where you coming from but I'm sure you realize that salt lake city would be way closer. also I don't know when your leaving. however don't be too disappointed if your train is late that dose happen (especially east of saint Lois) also be sure to plan your layovers well, they can be a great way to see a bunch of cities on one trip. some road in Yellowstone are closed in winter. don't forget sunscreen you can get sunburn really fast even in the winter, don't forget to get any permits you may need : http://www.nps.gov/yell/index.htm... oh and most important, don't forget to have a fun, relaxing time :)
